Being Sick-YUCKY...don't worry though, I'm starting to feel much better!!

I am not doing very well with keeping my goal of blogging once a week.  This week there is a legitimate excuse though.  I, Kristin, have made it 31 years without ever getting Strep Throat (that I know of), until now.  I was a lucky sibling who stayed healthy (somewhat) whenever the others had Strep.  Thought I was immune to it...guess not.

Seeing how I had never had Strep, I didn't know exactly what it was like.  All I knew was that I felt miserable because I was extremely congested (couldn't breathe), had a dry sore throat the first three days, and I had a fever that would not go away.  I stayed home from school almost the entire week-except for the fact that it was Parent Teacher Conference week.  So, I had a sub during the day, and then came in at night to do my conferences, and then went back home to crash.

Thursday night, I gave in, and finally went to see a doctor at Instacare (Cam and I still don't have a regular family doctor we see--any suggestions on who you like in SLC area??).  He tested me for strep, even though I was convinced it was not strep.  Luckily for me though, it came back positive.

I say luckily, because we asked him if it is not strep, what could it be?  The other options were a lot scarier...the flu was an option, and pneumonia which could have landed me in the hospital attached to an IV aaaahhhh!!  I'm okay with Strep.

Not so luckily, now I found out that I have exposed my entire class, and their parents to this awful bug. No good can come from that.  It makes me feel so sad and very hopeful that such small exposure hopefully didn't have time to spread it to them.  Cross your fingers for them!!

I am now on Penicillin, my congestion is starting to go down a little bit, and I was up a little more than I have been today which is nice!  Here's hoping it will be gone soon!  I recommend to anyone, if you have something wrong with you that makes it easier to not breathe, than to breathe, just go to the doctor to see if s/he will find something specific and then prescribe something that can make you feel so much better!!

On to a new and better week (out of bed)!!!
